Newcastle and the whole of the north east of England is an area rich with places to visit and sights to see. The city itself has many museums as well as an excellent art gallery called The Laing with works by great masters like Gauguin and Gainsborough. You’re also very close to the beautiful Northumberland coastline and the borders of Scotland. Many parts of Hadrian’s Wall, built by the Romans to stop the Scots from invading England, are still standing and there’s an excellent visitor centre at Segedunum, just 10 minutes from port.
